2. Ancient City of Ephesus
After greeting, we will have 20 mins. Drive to Ephesus area. Ephesus (Rev. 2:1-7), major port city on the Aegean, was the commercial, political, and religious center of all of Asia Minor. After a lunatic completely burned the Temple of Diana (Artemis) on the night, that Alexander the Great was born in 356 B.C. The Ephesians worked for 120 years to complete a magnificent reconstructed temple, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. The city became part of the Roman Empire in the second century B.C. As a Roman capital of Asia Minor, Ephesus boasted a population approaching 250,000 people. The Apostle Paul’s first visit to Ephesus was brief—during his second missionary tour (Acts 18:19-21). His second visit lasted about three years—during his third missionary tour (Acts 19:1 to 20:31). Luke’s account of the worship of Diana appears in Acts 19:34-35. The Great Theatre (stadium) mentioned in Acts 19:29-31 could seat 25,000 people. Walk the marble-paved street with grooves made by chariot wheels. See the Fountain of Trojan, the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre.Visit the Chapel of the Virgin Mary (Double Church), where the Third Ancient Council convened.
3. Meryemana (The Virgin Mary's House)
The House of Virgin Mary is located on the Aladag Mountains 5 miles away from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council on 431 AD in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. After the discovery of the house, the Archbishop of Izmir declared there as a place of pilgrimage in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited this place and prayed there.
4. The Basilica of Saint John
After Lunch break near Ephesus in a local restaurant we drive to St. John’s Basilica, it is believed that the evangelist St. John had spent his last years in the region around Ephesus and buried in the southern slope of Ayosolug Hill.
5. The Temple of Artemis
We will stop at Artemision Temple where used to be one of the seven wonders of the ancient world as our last stop before drive back to Kusadasi port / hotel
6. Kusadasi
Drive back to Kusadasi city center and to port after the tour

We had an amazing experience on our biblical tour of Ephasus!! We ended up having a private tour with just our family and our guide. Our guide was wonderful! Her name was Mediha and she was so personable, easy to talk to, answered all of our questions and gave us incredible information about each place we visited!! We would definitely recommend this tour! We learned so much. It was amazing to walk the streets the apostle Paul once walked. We now love this place!

Great tour but… for one thing. The day was perfect until we got to end of the day and high pressure sales to buy buy buy a Turkish carpet. I loved our guide, I loved the places we visited so much and the rugs we saw were the highest quality handmade beautiful rugs but the high pressure sales were a big turn off! It was not advertised as part of the trip! Instead of lunch we got this sale pitch to buy rugs. It was not a great way to end the day and left a bad taste in our mouths. It really soured the whole experience.

Yavuz is a very nice, polite, patient, educated young man. As Christians, he showed us Ephesus, Temple of Artemis, church of John, and we saw house of Mary. He took us to an ice restaurant for lunch. We had a very good experience.
Plan ahead in terms of budget if you want to purchase a beautiful hand made rug.

Exceptional tour. Yavuz was our guide and he did a wonderful job. He allowed us to customize our time and was very accommodating. He was knowledgeable and courteous. I would highly recommend him as a guide.

A wonderful day seeing exactly what we wanted to see. Our guide, Yavuz, was just the best. Knowledgeable, friendly, kind and a joy to spend the day with. If you get the opportunity to come to Ephesus - do it and spend the day with Yavuz.

Emre was an amazing guide in Ephesus. He made the entire Bible come alive by showing and sharing details throughout the tour. We also had a lovely Turkish lunch and a visit to see rug making and pottery. But, the detailed history and explanations from a Biblical perspective were the highlight of this tour!

Fantastic Tour!!! Yavuz was our tour guide and had a fantastic time going to see the house of the Virgin Mary, city of Ephasus, and the baptistery of St. John. He was very knowledgeable. He even took us to a Turkish rug maker as well as pottery house to see how the locals crafted their artworks. Highly recommend this tour!! Definitely worth it!!
