Explore the ancient culture of Luxor and Aswan and the beauty of the River Nile. The Nile was the lifeline of ancient Egyptian civilization and today the banks of the river are dotted with ancient tombs and temples.

Lying 420 miles south of Cairo, Luxor is the most dramatic historical site in Egypt - and is often referred to as the world’s greatest open air museum. Luxor is the modern day name for Thebes, the ancient capital city of the New Kingdom Pharaohs. Today, Luxor is home to more than half of Egyptian antiquities and is a must-see destination for any visitor to Egypt.

Aswan is the “Jewel of the Nile”. Pink and grey granite thrusts upward through the Nubian sandstone, forming mountains, cliffs and jagged outcrops. The Nile runs clear and cold here, and endless waves of golden sand swirl against its banks.

If you do this type of tour ensure you check out the boat and food quality before paying. We were on beau rivage boat and whilst we had a room where you could open windows it was all downhill from there. Pool crowded and green, everything you need on the boat comes at an extra cost (including drinking water). The food is anything but middle eastern and repetitive. Best meal is the breaks]fast omelette .

Despite the almost 40 degrees a day, I never thought I would be surprised and as amazed as on this trip. We did it on the typical organized trip of 4 days on a cruise and 3 in Cairo. Fascinating experience. My children were delighted and we went to live an adventure since for reasons of study and work we did not prepare it - we studied - in advance. The cruise with a super good guide to reach all the destinations. I would only argue that the boat needs a little - not much - maintenance or detail in the finishes, but the service and staff on board are excellent. The food was good, except that it was not very varied...a lot of chicken and rice. What is known and seen is UNFORGETTABLE. IMPOSSIBLE not to do the excursion to the Nubian town and bathe in the Nile River on the outskirts where it runs clean and fresh. Beautiful Cairo at the Grand Nile Tower hotel, and the city so you don't close your eyes, it's gigantic and doesn't seem to sleep. I wish you could come back. SURPRISE with all the letters. Ahhh November is high season and prices triple.

The Nile is a big river, even bigger than I thought the worlds longest river would be. The views out of towns are beautiful as the landscape changes. The boats used for the cruises are numerous and differing qualities and ages, but you get the same views from all of them. We all really enjoyed the experience, even the continuous hassle to buy as soon as you leave the boat. One niggle is the price of the trips the tour try’s to sell, if your confident and able get off the boat without a booked tour and negotiate with the numerous offers ashore, it’s more fun and personal, but obviously allow plenty of time if there’s a leaving time .

I took part in this four-day cruise as part of an organized tour.
Comfortable clean spacious rooms with daily care and big window to the Nile. The food that is good in a buffet both for breakfast and for the other two meals with a wide variety. The pool area and the upper deck are furnished with comfortable armchairs and a bar to enjoy the ride. The staff are very kind, friendly and willing to serve.
A rather good experience that I would gladly do again.

Been on a few cruises and the Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor (or from Luxor to Aswan) is one of the morst you could go on. I went on MS Blue Shadow 3 , the ship was very old and this showed in the cabin
There is practically nothing to do when the ship is sailing.

Somewhere between a relaxing boat ride and pleasant interesting visits to historic monuments and a living nightmare of a constant barrage of requests for money and ridiculous non sensical protocols at the airports with arrogant rude police officials lies the nile cruise. Is it worth it? Yes but only to see the evidence of a long gone civilisation of masterful people who were light years ahead of Egypts current occupants and those ancient people most likely fled or were massacred because there is not one trace of their existence in the present Country. It would be advisable to buy a book before you leave about the history of the 30 odd dynasties which existed during the pharaonic times this way you will appreciate and understand the history more.
The only obstacles you will face will be the present day Egyptians who will pretty much on the whole try to get money from you one way or another, prices will be inflated, the best solution is walk fast and buy nothing or get a local to help. Trust no one at all.
Have small change either single dollars, euros, pounds etc or Egyptian pounds in small notes of 10, 20 and 50 pounds.
I repeat again, TRUST NO ONE!!!.
and incase you missed it, tryst no one!
So many folk on the cruise were ripped off one way or another. Our cruise was booked confirmed, we bought a flight, when about to board our flight, we discovered, only after messaging that the cruise didn't exist (viator). So, if you're thinking of visiting Egypt better to either travel elsewhere e.g. Istanbul/Turkey, Greece or be very careful.
One other point, places like Giza are filthy the government does nothing to collect rubbish, people dump rubbish in canals and streets, the live amongst their own filth they don't seem to care, animals would not live in such a manner, so brace yourself for what you will see..... but the a visit to the giza pyramids and sakara at a minimum are a must. And if possible the cruise to luxor and aswan, the temple of philae the last place of the ancient civilisation are are also worth it.
In life you have to take the good with the bad, ancient Egypt was so good, the present day is, well, you decide, but take care and watch your money!

Had an amazing time doing a Nile cruise with Egypt Escapes. The reps out there cannot do enough for you and helped us from the airport to the cruise and through the entire trip. Absolute holiday of a lifetime! Cannot wait to go and do it again.

The ship was advertised as a five star cruiser and upon first impression the cabin looked comfortable. However, after spending tine aboard the smell from the toilet and the diesel from the engine became so overwhelming that we asked to be let off the boat early in Aswan.

The food to boot was terrible, same old dishes rehashed from dinner for lunch and so on and so forth, all the meat very dry and the vegetable overcooked. A distinct lack of variety, this hastened our departure.

The staff appeared friendly but you could see that it was your tips they were after, or they wanted to sell you optional tours, or photos etc...not really genuine I felt.

To be honest I wouldn't bother with a cruise down the Nile (as romantic as it sounds) as you spend most of your time docked, first in Edfu, then in Aswan and then I assume in Edfu again (we had left by this stage). Better of of on a Fellucca for a day.

All in all after looking forward to this portion of our trip we felt badly let down, would definitely not recommend the MS Viking or cruising down the Nile in general.
