The tour begins with a visit to a port wine producer: Quinta da Roêda. There will be a personalized guided tour on the vineyards where the process of making the port wine will be explained. The wine tasting will be accompanied by a careful selection of Portuguese cheeses.
After tasting, we will embark 1 hour boat ride in a typical wooden boat (Rabelos). This soothing ride is the best time to contemplate the landscape and nature of the Douro Valley.
Lunch is served in a beautiful farm overlooking to the vineyards where there are several food options: fish, meat or vegetarian. Everything are included in the price.
The second winery is a small table wine producer, It will be an interesting opportunity to have more contact with the locals. The visit ends with an olive oil tasting.

Our tour guide, Sergio, was incredibly knowledgeable! He provided us with context for the entire tour and set the tone for each individual stop. Once at the stops, the guides who took over at the wineries and the boat were energetic and informative. We loved the views, the wines, and the cultural experience.
We should also add that the pick up/drop off from our air bnb in Porto was very convenient. They confirmed location in advance and sent a follow up email the day before re-confirming pick up and pick up time. Sergio was right on time and immediately introduced himself which kicked the day off to a great start!

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal! The Douro valley scenery was gorgeous and the tour exceeded all our expectations. The tour include a stop at a winery that included wine tasting and olive oil and honey tasting, delicious lunch at another winery, entertaining & beautiful Duoro river boat ride with Captain Paco, and port tasting at another winery with amazing views. Our driver and tour guide Samuel was wonderful. He picked us up at our hotel, was a wealth of information about the region and wineries that we visited as well Portuguese cuisine. He made sure that we had everything that we needed on the tour and also provided us with lots of Porto restaurant recommendations. Truly perfect day!

General opinion...We had a lovely day. I usually don't enjoy organized tours but this time I would recommend this one. Yes you can do it by car but really, how much will you enjoy the wine/port if you drive? ;) Also with a small group you get a few advantages that big groups just can't.
Logistics... We were a small 4 people group and they picked and left us where we asked. Van was comfortable and we all had enough space.
About the guide... Our guide Pedro was attentive to details, asked us genuine questions to better tailor the conversation / shared some nice stories, and made sure we were having, overall, a great experience. Very nice person you'll be lucky to have him drive you.
The tour itself : one morning winery (wining at 10h30 in the morning will be your biggest challenge of the day), a relaxed boat tour to digest (goes on one side and comes back so don't expect something more than it is), then you get to eat lunch in a very quaint place (amazing food, yet simple) and then another very lovely winery with an amazing service, generous portions and tasty honey and olive oil dégustation.

We had an amazing time on this day trip! Our guide Samuel made sure the day was perfect. He was friendly, informative and shared extra tid bits about the city during our drive times. (He also provided us with restaurant and site recommendations at our request. - Can't thank him enough!) Each stop on the tour was great! Lots of great wine tastings and perfect views. Would highly recommend if you have the time!

Our tour with Samuel was a memorable one! My wife and I are celebrating our honeymoon and we chose this activity to welcome us to Portugal for the first time.
The night before the trip, we received a text via WhatsApp confirming pick-up time and location. Samuel created a group chat with our fellow tourmates which was helpful in keeping track of arrival time. We were a full group of 8 people (4 couples). Even though we sat in the back, the black Mercedes van was comfortable during the 1.5 hour drive out to the Douro Valley.
Samuel was very friendly, engaging in conversation, and made us feel at ease throughout the entire tour. During the drive, he shared his knowledge of the region while safely navigating the windy roads.
The first winery produced organic wines including organic port wine, olive oil, and honey - which we tasted all throughout our visit. Our guide at the winery was also very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. Samuel then drove us to a beautiful home for an outdoor lunch. It had an amazing view of the valley, great food and of course drank plenty of wine.
My wife gets sea sickness so there was some concern with the river cruise. Samuel was kind enough to reach out to the boat captain to inquire about the river's choppiness. The boat ride was smooth and relaxing; my wife felt fine during the entire ride. Our funny boat captain told us of the river's history while we enjoyed the views of the wineries from the water. They provided more local snacks and a delicious port cocktail.
The second winery was nearby along the river. We had another informative guide who taught us more about the wine-making process. We enjoyed several more tastings of various wine and port. Safe to say it was a sleepy ride back to Porto!
We had an amazing experience all thanks to Samuel and the other guides along the way. We HIGHLY recommend choosing this tour and ask for Samuel! Obrigado!

Marcelo picked us up right on time in front of our hotel. His vehicle was very comfortable as we had a group of six but we did not feel crowded and he also provided us with water if we needed it. Marcelo was very helpful and informative and has a great sense of humour. During the long journey to the wineries, Marcello provided us with many insights to the Portuguese way of life and its history.
The wine tours were very educational and fun and again we learned a lot about the history of the Duro valley and the wine industry,
The Duro valley was one of the most beautiful places I have seen, and this tour is not to be missed, highly recommended for anyone in Portugal.
