This was one of our favorite tours. The beautiful waterfall, the lake, and the volcanic formations were amazing. Standing close to a steam vent was exciting! Our tour driver, Mario, navigated us to the stops without a hitch. Our tour guide, Vic the Viking, added stories, singing, and character to the tour. We'd recommend it to anyone. In fact, if we come back we might just take this tour again! Thank you Vic for your enthusiasm and humor! Seriously, you have a beautiful voice!

Our guide, Amma, was excellent, spoke clearly and gave lots of interesting information. There were two ships in port and many buses, and we weren’t given an exact meeting point. The tour got off to a slow start and the stops were very crowded with tourists so we didn’t feel we had enough time at any of them. All that said, I’m glad we saw the beautiful places we did, and we got back to the ship on time.

Our tour guide Vik was fantastic and the sites we saw were great. Akureyri and the surrounding areas are beautiful. With that said, the beginning of the tour was chaotic with people not knowing which bus to go on and not certain they were on the right tour. The tour ended up leaving late and got back 20-30 minutes early so the 6 hours was not accurate. The time spent at each stop was not well split. For example, we went to the lava formations where the tour guide took us to a couple of spots and then we had to get back on the bus. No time to go on our own or see more of the formations. We spent too much time at the sulphuric acid area and ate lunch in the parking lot there with that wonderful smell. We also had a very short stop at the lake. While it's not the fault of the tour or tour guide, the stop at the waterfall can be very congested and the lines to use the bathroom or purchase a souvenir were really long. The scenery was amazing though, especially with the recent snow. I think the tour could be great if they could get the organization and timing down.

The Godafoss waterfall was fantastic. Bus took us almost to the falls with a short walk up a slight slope on a paved path. The tour company did have a slight mess up with boarding and separating the different tours which delayed us about 20 minutes but after that all went well.

So the tour itself was great. The tour guide was super informative and patient dealing with the tens of perturbed people. Why were they perturbed? who signed up. The beginning part was total chaos. Meaning when you got off the cruise ship and found Bus Travel Iceland operators there was a mass of people and no one leading or assigning people buses til later. So we all stood around wondering what was going on and people were getting more and more irate. Finally they started calling names (roll call) but it was hard to hear. Once you got on the bus the guide apologized for the chaos and informed us that it was tricky organizing 300+ people who signed up. Which is weird because you would think they were quite used to this. The places we went were wonderful but I wish we had more time at the waterfall and less time at the very very very smelly geothermal springs. The flies at the Lake were also very annoying even though they did NOT bite. But flying into hair, nose, food, etc was gross. And they said we were lucky because it snowed last week and the flies were low! Can’t imagine a swarm. Again the sites were great, guide super nice and informative, just wish the beginning part had been avoided and it was much more organized.

Audi and Eugene were a great guide and driver team. The guests from Princess were a bit worried at first when what we assumed was a six hour tour from the Viator advertisement was suddenly called an eight hour tour. Audi and Eugene assured us all that they would have us back by the ship’s departure. The tour was awesome! Audi was very clear and entertaining!! We learned so much and loved our stops!!!

Our tour guide, Vik was very good as was the driver Mr sizzle. Excellent orientation and history lesson. The beginning was very disorganized and chaotic. Instructions for pick up location not clear and no signs to the where the buses are. The box lunch they provided on the tour was terrible. Quite frankly, they would be better off not providing lunch at all. Nobody would notice or miss it, but when you include it in the tour and it’s really bad then everyone notices.

The sight seeing was nice but what made this trip special for us was the tour guide Alan(?). He is very well verse in Icelandic and world history and linguistic facts. We learned so much about Iceland for him on the trip. His explanations were concise and captivated us the entire trip. In all honesty we don't know if the other tour guides are as good so if you happened to draw Alan, considered yourself lucky.
