Located some 45 kilometres to the east of the capital city of Windhoek in Namibia is the Windhoek International Airport. The airport which is also known as the Hosea Kutako International Airport has an IATA code of WDH. The airport was named after a Namibian hero Hosea Kutako.

The airport is the main airport which services Namibia and offers some direct international connections to locations such as Zambia, Zimbabwe, Germany, Angola, Ghana, Botswana and South Africa. Generally most people that are either entering or departing Namibia do so via the OR Tambo International Airport which is located in Johannesburg. There are approximately 18 flights daily between the Windhoek International Airport and the OR Tambo International Airport.

In 2009 the airport underwent a refurbishment. It currently has a single terminal building, with a departure hall and an arrival hall. Amenities such as VAT tax refunds, a duty free restaurant and public parking are now available.

There are almost no domestic flights available from the Windhoek International Airport, as most of these services are offer by the significantly smaller Windhoek Eros Airport. On average the airport handles around 672,500 passengers annually.

The airport has two asphalt runways, both of which are in operation. One runway is 1,524 meters in length, and the other is 4,532 meters in length. The main airline carriers that operate out of the airport are Airlink, Air Namibia, British Airways/Comair, Condor, South African Airways, South African Express and TAAG.
