Itinerary

Parents and/or companions do not have to pay the ticket if they do not attend the course

Your gladiator lesson takes place at the Gladiator School of Rome, located near the Colosseum on the historic Appian Way. Specializing in the reenactment of ancient Roman life and gladiator fighting, your instructors are members of the Historic Group of Rome and will begin your class by providing you with your costume — a traditional belt, tunic, leather gloves, and a training sword known as a rudis. Learn the basic skills of gladiator sword fighting before summoning your imagination and channeling your inner ancient Roman as you fight off ferocious lions and battle other sword-wielding gladiators. If you wish, you can participate in an optional gladiator tournament, complete with a prize for the victor. Either way, all participants receive a certificate of accomplishment at the end of your lesson. Friends and family are allowed to watch your class from the viewing platform. Admission to the Gladiator School of Rome Museum is also included so you can check out gladiator weapons and other artifacts.

The Roman Gladiator school was so much fun! We loved everything from the museum, to the instruction, to getting into the ring. “Diamedes” was wonderful at explaining and demonstrating the art of fighting as well as the history of the equipment. We would do this again!

This was a fun experience. It was a little difficult to find at the end of the road. Once we arrived we were greeted by an fun and enthusiastic leader. He spent about 30 minutes teaching us the history of Roman gear and battle strategy. We then did some warm ups and learned how to battle. Finishing with an exciting battle in the small colosseum. My son had a blast and it was a great father son activity.

This was a great way to get everyone moving outside and get rid of jet lag. We did this in the morning before our afternoon Colosseum tour. Our children, ages 9, 11, and 14 all enjoyed it (despite “dreading” the experience beforehand) and the parents liked it too. It was the perfect amount of time and the right amount of learning and interacting. Highly recommend for families!

Our family had the most amazing time learning to be gladiators ! Our family consists of parents and one child, a boy of 12 years old. There was one other family , so a group of 7 total. The trainer , Cena , was very knowledgeable and personable. It was a unique and awesome break from sight seeing. We were supplied with outfits to wear while battling. Be prepared to train!

This was such an amazing experience and my son LOVED it! He was asking to come back before we even left. It was great to get info in the museum and then train so it’s best of both worlds for kids and adults.

Had a great time with my wife and two kids. We've done many things in Italy but this was my son's favorite.

This is a must do if you have kids when you are in Rome. My 14 year old son loved it. We got a tour of Roman equipment first then into the training. Lots of workouts first then practising how to use a sword, then onto the main arena for the battles to commence. We were a party of 3 with a French family of 4 and we all just joined in and thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hours here. At the end, we were given new Gladiator names and a certificate. Its totally worth the effort to come out here (as its not close to the main parts of Rome). We walked (it was such a lovely day and we were up early) and it took us around 50 minutes. We did get a taxi back to the hotel though.

Geared mostly to kids and families (at least the day we were there). The instructor was patient, humorous and knowledgeable.
