Heart wrenching but necessary review of the purpose, prisoners, and history of Robben Island. Both bus and site guides were excellent.

Robben Island is great but I don't know about this tour operator. If you book directly with the museum, the price is 600 rand (~ 30us) These guys charged 1800 rand (~ 90us). The only added value was a bottle of water and a five minute ride. I asked them why and got no response. Book direct!

Seeing the mine where the prisoners had to work and inside the cells was truly heartbreaking. We learned so much. The bus tour was very interesting. Very worthwhile.

Getting the pre booked ticket definitely not worth the value. It was about $35 more pp for same thing on another Viator Roben Island tour that includes entrance fees and transportation

The tour guides were excellent and shared their true experiences with us. The history of the island was more diverse than we first thought and it was good to hear the full history.

Having a tour guide that was a former prisoner took my breath away. He was precise, honest, blunt, and very open,
This was a very sobering experience. We learned a lot from this gentleman.

I sent this message privately and got no response?

We very much enjoyed our trip to Robben Island. However I do wonder if there has been a mistake with the pricing? On your website at the moment the price is £106 for 2 people and we were charged £142? Even more surprising is that do it locally the price would be 1200 Rand and approx 66 Rand for an Uber? At today’s exchange rate this works out at £72 - half of what we paid to Booking.com?
I’ve always been very happy with the service and support with Booking.com but this seems excessively overpriced?
Appreciate your comments.

So everyone is aware you can get tickets directly from the Robben Museum website for $30. You are paying more than three times to cost for the convenience of them picking you up. You can decide if that is worth it to you.

This is history that must be seen / and heard. Pretty cool that the tour is lead by a former prisoner of the island. The goosebumps you get passing by the cell in which Mandela served in!

Everything was a bit rushed though (Guess we were falling behind in time) and I don't think the pricing was fair at all but overall a really good experience.
