Going to the sloth sanctuary was by far the highlight. Rio Celeste hike was alright but could have passed on the waterfall as it was a short walk and packed with bathers. Unfortunately our tour seemed unorganized and our guide could have been more informative. Our bus seem to be on its last legs

The sloth sanctuary and our guide there (I think his name was Kevin) was great!! Julius Cesar was our main guide for the trip and he did a good job but it all seemed very rushed. We had a group of 24 which was a lot and I felt was a lot of the reason for the rushed feeling. It is a lot to do in one day and the llanos de Cortez waterfall hike is pretty strenuous but so beautiful. I really wished the swim portion at Rio Celeste was after the other parts of the tour. You’d be more than ready for a swim then lol. All in all a good tour but be prepared to hurry of your with a large group.

The tour was great. The waterfall was beautiful. You do have to take a lot of stairs. The guide, Minor was great. I would recommend it.

This was such a great experience. The waterfalls were beautiful and the nature preserve was awesome. Our guide, Ivan Guerrero, was so knowledgeable and really made the tour exceptional. I would recommend this tour, 10 out of 10. One recommendation would be to be ready for a full day. Our driver, Alfredo Marchena, helped keep us on track and was so kind and helpful. Definitely a memorable experience and a great tour company.

Generally ok trip,
The start of this private tour costing over £400 for 2 people did not go well.
Pick up time and location changed from hotel at 6.30 to outside of hotel (the company are not allowed into the hotel ? )at 6.45. There was a lot of communication and explanations, too long to go into detail but this could have caused us to miss the trip. This needs to be explained on the Viator website and on the confirmation email a lot more clearly for the private tour. The reply’s always seem to infer that the customer did not read properly and the company does not need to explain.
It is easy to make
Mistakes, don’t help us make them !!!
Pick up was good.
Picked up at 6.45 driver and guide very friendly, driver good at driving, very considerate with air con etc and communicated with guide.
Guide very knowledgeable on the drive to first location. Informed on history, geology, local life and wildlife.
Arrived at waterfall swim 15 minutes before opening which was good as we were first in and had the place to ourselves for 20/30 minutes, this was the guides intention. After 3/4 of an hour extremely busy with at least 50 people, time to go. Guide explained about his fears for the waterfall which showed his passion.
Then the sloth/ wildlife tour
We were left in the hands of the tour from the sloth sanctuary , very knowledgeable and helpful.
Then the hike.
We thought this would be a two hour walk but was approx 1 hour and did not see much really but that is how walking goes.
Then lunch
The guide took us to a small family restaurant that had excellent chicken and rice and fantastic juice drinks and very friendly.
Return.
We arrived back at 5.15. Approx 1.5 hours early but no complaints as full day

We had such an amazing experience! The first stop is a short hike down to an amazing waterfall where you can swim. At this stop we did take a short hike up to the top of the waterfall with a different local guide. The next hike to the Rio Celeste was a beautiful walk through the rainforest where you get to see tons of vegetation and hear so many birds. Once you reach the Rio Celeste the beautiful blue water is jaw dropping. Lunch is included and it was incredibly tasty, we paid a bit extra to enjoy a local beer.

The last stop at the sanctuary was far too short. I could have stayed here all day as there were so many animals to see.

Overall, I highly recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed.

Unfortunately, you feel like herded cattle throughout this entire excursion. It is a very long day, most of which is spent on the bus due to the fact that you leave from the Tamarindo area which is not close to the desired points of interest at all. We were being rushed through every single stop and would get frustrated sighs from the tour guide whenever folks needed to use a restroom, change for swimming in the waterfall, etc. as they are trying to keep to a very tight, near impossible timeframe. It mostly felt like we were being brought through these areas for quick photo opps instead of to see, learn, and enjoy. I strongly recommend that if you are in a group of family/friends you rent a car for the day instead - it will be cheaper and much, much more comfortable, not to mention you can do things at your own pace. The folks we saw at these sites who'd taken their own vehicles looked much happier and more comfortable than us. If you do however choose to go with this excursion, ensure that you have proper rain gear and towels as it is very likely you get drenched when you visit the rain forest to see the second waterfall and you will be extremely uncomfortable in a maxed out bus if you are wet and cramped for the rest of the day.

It was a great experience for the whole family. You have to be physically good condition to do the hike. Seeing the sloths was awesome and the lunch was perfect.

My husband and I visited Costa Rica for our honeymoon and wanted to experience as much of the country as we could while visiting! We stayed near Tamarindo for the entirety of our trip, but we also wanted to see a bit of the rainforest / volcano topography while we were there. We were not able to make it in to the Arsenal Volcano but saw this tour and thought it would be a perfect fit, and we were right! Exploring the waterfalls, volcanos, and the rainforest was just spectacular! Within roughly 2.5 hours we felt like we were in an entirely different ecosystem from where we were staying on the coast. It was awesome! We loved every aspect of this tour (including seeing such cool wildlife!) and highly recommend it! Remember to bring a towel and change of clothes!

The two waterfalls are very nice. Llanos des Cortes is specially so. The wildlife sanctuary was also fun. The guide there was terrific. Unfortunately, a lot of the animals were sleeping so you couldn’t see much. Amazing how excited you can get to see a frog in another country. ?Don’t expect to see any animals on the hike to Llanos falls. It’s 252 steps down and then back up so be ready. Our driver was lovely. Our tour guide, while nice, didn’t add to the trip. She was more of an escort around than a guide.
