Very informative of a history in time that definitely has reshaped our history. To be considered property and not free to create your own journey. What a humbling acknowledgment of then.

The tour was excellent, especially the tour of the house. It was done by a person who was extremely knowledgeable about the plantation itself as well as the history of slavery and the history following the civil war.

I’m so glad we chose this tour. They walked us through the house and told us about the family and the plantation. It was a kid friendly tour and both of my kids got to go in the house with us.

I didn't think that is was a "spectacular" plantation. I didn't have time to walk all over. The slave houses were more interesting.

Our family of 4, kids ages 16 and 20 really enjoyed this tour. It was worth walking to the bus so there wasn't time wasted picking up others at various hotels. We had plenty of time to walk around after the tour and have lunch. Enjoyed a few Mint Juleps and Bourbon Twists as well. The grounds are lovely and it was nice to have part of the plantation guided (the house) and part on your own (the slave quarters and grounds). We did underestimate the time this would take but it was worth it.

The plantation itself was immaculate and the home absolutely beautiful. Our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Oak Alley.

Fantastic tour! Great for families and or adults only. Transportation to the plantation was fantastic! Our driver (Alton - “Like Elton John but with an A.”) was a great tour guide to and from. Went in the March, weather was amazing.

I’ll begin with the positives. The gardens are lovely. Well maintained lawn, beautiful azaleas blooming. The Oak trees are breathtaking. The slavery quarters provided historical perspective of a very dark time in our nation. The “Big House” tour was very disappointing. Our guide, Wes, was either really tired or felt this job was beneath him. He rolled eyes at us, spewed information like he was reading to us. He actually did better when we asked questions. But, he only provided facts and figures. There was nothing about family relationships or whatever became of the children who lived in the house or what type of relationship the couple had who built the home. It was just very businesslike. Also, you don’t see that much of the house. The tour lasted basically 20 minutes. we’re glad that we got to see the grounds, but we would not pay for the big house tour again.

Oak Alley was the one plantation I wanted to see while in Nola bc I was obsessed with Interview with the Vampire as a child and have read all the Anne Rice novels.
It's an easy drive there from New Orleans and the meeting point was very easy to find.
All the staff were wonderful and our guide/drive (Alton) was wonderful!
The house and grounds were lovely.
