Hot Air Balloon Flight over Teotihuacan, from Mexico City

The hot air balloon ride was exceptional and 5/5. The outfit was very profession from pickup to drop-off. We flew right over the pyramid and it was a wonderful experience.

We have deducted one star because we opted to visit the archeological site afterwards. We were expecting to pay 85 pesos each admission but were instead charged 480 pesos (would have been 580 pesos if we hadn't opted out part way through) to have a guide inside in a large group and first were forced to visit a gift shop with very expensive items. Would recommend to skip this tour option if you can and just enjoy the site with a guide.

It was such a great experience! The guide and staffs are very professional. The view was breathtaking when we fly over the pyramids.

The pickup process was smooth, all the people are from the same hotel so we went straight to the hot air balloon point. We arrived at the place at 6:20, and waited about 1 hr. They offer coffee and fruits at the waiting point, also some outdoor heating, and we took plenty of pictures while the staffs were preparing the balloons so it didn’t feel like a long wait. After the tour, we had breakfast and they provided the transportation back to our hotel. The car departed at 9:25 and we finished the whole tour at 10:30. If you choose to go to the pyramid tour they also provide transportation, and the returning is at 1:15 pm.

The only downside is you have to get up really early. We woke up 4:45 that morning so we were too tired to take the pyramid trip. But overall I really enjoyed the tour!

The views were epic - Such an amazing experience from the time they picked me up at my hotel until the time they dropped me off. As a woman traveling alone and speaking minimal Spanish, I had no trouble or concerns and made so many friends along the way! Juan was such a great pilot. His experience really showed in how close we got to the pyramids and our smooth landing right into the trailer of a truck. Breakfast with the mariachi band was delicious and so fun.

What a dream come true! I booked my ticket the day before at 5pm and was able to communicate about pickup. You do have to go to a certain location for pickup - would recommend adding a way to find the one nearest to you. Driver found me quickly though and went around a picked a few more people up.

One you get there, you check in and they offer free coffee/tea and cookies. It was a bit chilly but they have warmer on outside. You get to see the inflating of the balloons while they call your name for your group.

Our pilot was amazing and the wind was a little crazy but we got blessed to fly over the pyramids. The guys were stunning and we had a great cheer at the end.

After you get the all you can eat breakfast- which wasn't too bad. All while a mariachi group performs, and they were great!

After toured the pyramids- recommend paying for a tour guide. Was able to learn a lot and even appreciate the ancient city more once I knew the history.

Plenty of vendors with great art for sales at the pyramids too fyi. You'll get different animal sounds as well.
Our tour includes visiting the caves which was an experience, and then drove us back to our pickup spot for the ride to the city.

- they do have English and Spanish guides and pilots.

Very well-organised from start to finish. We were picked up on time from our accommodation and driven to the balloon launching site. We were provided with coffee and biscuits whilst we waited. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and professional. Our balloon pilot was fantastic and everything felt very safe. The sights were truly spectacular. I’d highly recommend this experience.

I had never done a hot air balloon and I’m afraid of heights. This was so easy and chill for anyone like me. Super professional team made me very comfortable and relaxed. Made some friends, took epic pics and it was truly one of the most amazing times of my life.

We had such a good time it exceeded all our expectation. Weather was perfect, the view is amazing and the staffs are extremely friendly and helpful.

Our pilot, Hugo, was a professional and made the trip interesting: we rose up high, then dropped down as we approached the pyramids up close. The landing was perfect. The 200 peso video he made for us afterward was pretty cool.

The rest of the experience was not great. We were told to arrive at 6:00 am and we did; most others arrived just before 7:00; no one else was there. In the meanwhile, we stood in the cold sipping the weakest coffee ever; they didn't turn on the heat lamps till 6:30. We were forced to listen to the 60-second music track from their promo video over and over and over while we waited. Meaning we had to hear it a hundred times - torture. My partner and I ended up in the last balloon to take off - 7:40 - after waiting since 6:00. The food served after the flight was cold, tasteless and lame; the mariachi band was off-key.

The balloon ride itself was fine (hard to screw it up); everything else... not so great.
