Discover the real Netherlands in this amazing tour through Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendam, and Marken – the jewels of the Dutch countryside.

The visit starts in Zaanse Schans, where you will be able to take pictures of typical Dutch windmills that are still in use today. Afterward, we will drive to the Waterland area, passing through the beautiful villages from this part of the country: Edam, Volendam, and Marken. In Edam, we will walk through historic sites like the square where the famous Cheese Market used to take place. Then, near Volendam, we will visit a local cheese producer, where the cheese master will explain how they produce Gouda and Edam cheeses. In the clog factory, you will discover the secrets of this typical Dutch shoe. Then, travel back in time to the 17th century as we walk by cozy fishermen houses in Marken, the fishing harbor, and the protestant church.

Join us for an unforgettable day visiting Edam, Volendam, Marken, and Zaanse Schans.

This was an awesome day trip out of Amsterdam and into the beautiful, more traditional countryside areas. Our guide, Raquel, was knowledgeable and funny and made the tour interesting. I didn’t feel like any part of the day was too rushed or dragged on. It was perfectly timed. This was a completely different kind of lifestyle than Amsterdam and it was fun to see the contrast.

We had a great time on the trip. Ilya our tour guide was excellent. He explained lot of facts about various stops along the way, took pictures when requested, made suggestions for other activities around Amsterdam. Overall had a great experience. Thanks.

The weather on the day was unfortunately rainy, blustery and chillier than ideal. We would have enjoyed the experience that much more if it was friendlier weather.
However, in terms of the actual tour, the guide, the comfort in the bus, the seamless planning with which is worked, etc, it was a great!
The tour guide Max (middle name, I think his first name is Ryan) was really positive, energetic, witty and funny, and had some great stories to share with everyone. He also made it a point to speak with individuals/families in the overall group and get to know them.
The views in Zaans Schanse, and the cheese making demo at Edam were particularly enjoyable.
We also did the canal cruise package after the bus tour and that was fantastic as well, the captain was really entertaining and witty with his comments.
Would totally recommend this for anyone wanting to see these places in a day, without feeling unnecessarily rushed.

It was an absolutely amazing day! Richard our tour guide was wonderful and so knowledgeable of the history of Amsterdam and the Netherlands! It was a windy day with some rain but visiting the beautiful windmills, villages were exactly what was described! The ride down canal was equally as good. I would highly recommend this tour. Oh yes, our 10 year old granddaughter was traveling with us and she equally enjoyed every moment and the learned so much of local history!!
Many thanks again Richard and to our safe bus driver!!

The tour guide was very well informed and engaging. The bus was very comfortable and the windows provided a large view of the sites. Other than the weather being a bit cold and damp, we enjoyed the tour very much.

Amazing day trip to the beautiful country side of the Netherlands! Laura was a terrific guide. Each village had something different to offer which I really liked. I also enjoyed the cheese clog factory and of course meeting the chickens, hens, and bunnies! There were also some cows and sheep along the way :) 100% recommend this tour for anyone staying in Amsterdam for a few days and looking to experience the rural side of the country for the day. The windmills were also lovely!

Our guide, Xavier, was excellent. He was interesting, funny and fun!
The excursion was rather disappointing. Not much to do in Zaanse. The Edam cheese and shoe factory was a total disappointment . Volendam was cute but not enough time to do anything but eat a FAST lunch and return to the bus. Marken was a quick walk about and back to the bus.
